My Story

I was making leather wallets, patches, and leather products for adventurous adults. I was turning wooden pens, bottle stoppers, cups, and bowls. I was building out a wood working shop in my garage. I made several items that I gave away or sold at minimal profit while I built the skills to produce top quality hand made products. I wanted to “retire” early, well at least start working for myself.

Then, December 27th 2019, a trip to the ER. I had a Stroke! After a one week stay in the hospital and another three weeks in a rehab hospital I was sent home. I spent the rest of 2020 going to outpatient physical and occupational therapy nearly ever Tuesday and Thursday. Needless to say my entire life changed! After 43 years of being right handed I suddenly became left handed. After only 43 years old of being active and mobile I became dependent on a cane (named Reggie by my Physical Therapist). I still have limited use of my right arm and leg.

I have many years of assembly experience and engineering knowledge. I have some college (many years ago) focused on drafting and engineering, but never finished a degree. I have a job dealing with engineering on a daily basis.

In order to pursue my dream of early “retirement” and start working for myself I have been learning technology base hobbies. I have been 3D printing for about one year. Printing designs from the web as well as my own designs. I have started learning CNC laser engraving. The laser will allow me to work with leather and wood again. I also bought a CNC router second hand, but have yet to use it.

I have also began learning video editing and started a YouTube channel. The videos will focus on the technologies I use to make the products I sell here. Please check it out.

Kraken Works 3D

The name, well that’s a long story. The short answer, it’s a combination of a nickname given to me by my brothers and an old nerd’s fascination with all things Pirate. Instead of pillaging and plundering I’m trying to build my hobbies into a business. I might ride the wind to retirement with all the booty and chests of treasure I want or I’ll sink to the bottom of the sea. Either way I will do my best to provide quality products to my customers.

A special thank you to...

My Wife.

She has stood by me for 25+ years. She is the wind in my sails!

My Girls.

I love my girls, they are my everything.

My Framily.

Yeah, I spelled it right! My Brothers and Sister from another mother… and father.
